As an IT Security & DevOps Cloud Engineer (m/f/x) at payever, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the security, reliability, and performance of our cloud-based infrastructure and services. In this critical role, you will leverage your expertise in IT security and DevOps practices to design, implement, and maintain secure and scalable cloud solutions that meet the highest standards of security, performance, and availability.
You will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our systems, data, and customer information by implementing robust security measures. This includes conducting security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing to identify and remediate potential risks. You will design and enforce security policies, standards, and best practices across the organization, staying up to date with the latest security trends, emerging threats, and industry best practices.
In addition to IT security, you will also contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our cloud infrastructure through DevOps practices. You will leverage modern DevOps tools and methodologies to automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment processes. By implementing continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, you will enable faster and more reliable software releases. You will closely collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineering and operations, to align security and DevOps practices and ensure seamless integration.
As part of your role, you will actively monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring high availability and reliability of our cloud services. You will troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and application-related issues in a timely manner, minimizing any potential disruptions. Furthermore, you will contribute to cloud governance and compliance efforts, ensuring adherence to relevant industry standards and regulations such as GDPR or HIPAA. You will implement access controls, identity and access management solutions, and data protection mechanisms to maintain data confidentiality and integrity. Additionally, you will collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate security audits and assessments, maintaining comprehensive audit trails, logs, and monitoring systems.
Your technical expertise will be complemented by effective collaboration and documentation skills. You will provide guidance and support to stakeholders on security best practices and cloud architecture, ensuring that security considerations are embedded throughout the development lifecycle. You will document and communicate security and operational procedures, guidelines, and standards to foster a culture of security awareness and compliance.
To excel in this role, you should have a high interest in IT security, cloud engineering, or a related field. Large motivation to grow into cloud platforms, such as Microsoft Azure, and associated security services is essential. You should possess a first understanding of IT security principles, frameworks, and industry best practices. First knowledge in scripting and automation using languages like Python, Shell, or PowerShell is valuable, along with familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation. Relevant certifications in IT security (e.g., CISSP, CISM) and cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure) will be advantageous.

In this role, your day will look something like this
IT Security
Design, implement, and maintain security measures to protect cloud-based infrastructure, systems, and data.
Conduct security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing to identify and remediate potential risks.
Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and best practices across the organization.
Monitor and respond to security incidents, investigating and resolving any identified breaches or threats.
Stay updated with the latest security trends, emerging threats, and industry best practices.
DevOps and Cloud Engineering
Manage an ever-evolving platform with over 100 microservices
Work directly with the DevOps and Admin team to test system integrity
Identify sources of manual work related to onboarding new projects from inception to CI/CD pipeline and strive to automate as much as possible
Reduce the time it takes to build, deploy, and configure software to all environments
Contribute to the feature development and maintenance of our CI/CD pipeline
Design, build and test tools to improve deployment efficiency and gain visibility into production systems
Translate development team use cases into infrastructure requirements
Brainstorm with your team, help improve our integration, deployment and monitoring story
Work closely with developers to guide and help solve problems
Maintain day-to-day management and administration of projects
Evaluate and implement new solution with reliability, scalability and security in mind
Share & document your knowledge within your team
Migrate existing services to our Kubernetes infrastructure
Ensure backups of running systems are done properly and regularly heath-check those backups
Cloud Governance and Compliance
Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations, such as GDPR or HIPAA.
Implement access controls, identity and access management solutions, and data protection mechanisms.
Establish and maintain audit trails, logs, and monitoring systems to support compliance efforts.
Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate security audits and assessments.
Collaboration and Documentation
Collaborate with other teams, such as software engineering and operations, to align security and DevOps practices.
Provide guidance and support to stakeholders on security best practices and cloud architecture.
Document and communicate security and operational procedures, guidelines, and standards.
Your skill set, capabilities and previous experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
High interest or first experience in IT security, cloud engineering, or a related field.
High interest in cloud platforms, such as Microsoft Azure, and associated security services.
High interest in IT security principles, frameworks, and industry best practices.
High interest in DevOps practices, tools, and methodologies, such as continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD).
First knowledge in automation using languages like Python, Shell, or PowerShell.
Certifications in IT security (e.g., CISSP, CISM) and cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure) are advantageous.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate and address complex security and technical challenges.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
